Baby Gender Reveal...OOPS!

Once Upon a Time....

A few months ago, we shared some great news with our families by way of pinata
{how cute is that lion!?}....
We had team pink vs. team blue....

Several kiddos took a swing at the lion pinata in hopes they would break it down.  Once my sister put her softball skills to the test, the answer was revealed as it busted opened to reveal PINK candy!  Everyone {especially team PINK} was thrilled a girl was on the way.....

Gifts were opened revealing adorable girl clothes and goodies....

Although BL and I couldn't have cared less what gender our sweet baby was, we were excited at having a little girl!  Pretty sure BL was already taking interviews for her body guard!

Little did we know the treat we were going to get in a little less than 3 weeks.....

Ooopies!!  They were wrong!!

That wasn't just umbilical cord...that was a penis.  My sweet little girl wasn't a girl after all!  SHE was actually a HE, and we are expecting a boy!

The poor ultrasound technician was shaking she was so nervous to tell me; pretty sure she thought I was going to hit her or scream one.  Luckily for her, we just wanted a healthy baby, so this news was really just a funny chapter in our son's story.  Another funny part in this twist, BL wasn't even with me when we found out the news!  My sweet momma had come along to catch a glimpse at her newest grand baby and got to hear the news first hand.  Although I was going crazy waiting to tell BL, I just knew I had to wait and do it in person, so my lips were sealed and I said nothing of it when we were on the phone.  Instead, I headed out to shop for a boy's outfit and wrap it up to give BL when we were both home that night.  It was so much fun to watch his reaction to the gift {although he had no clue until I asked him to look closer at the gift and picture!}, and we have been looking forward to a baby boy ever since.

And yes, we have had several  ultrasounds since {one of the perks of having to see a specialist} and every time, it's still a boy.  And yes, friends and family alike often like to ask if we've "still got a boy in there?".  We do, and we are thrilled!!

Monday..... FUN day?

Hmm, Monday as a  FUN day?  Doubtful. I'm trying to make it fun with a positive attitude and outlook on the week ahead.  Lucky for me, we're closed on both Friday and Monday of the Labor Day weekend, which means I get a four-day weekend for my 29th {eeek!} birthday!

A few random Monday musings for you today....

- I am excited to turn 29 in a week.  This gives me 365 days to finish my 30 before 30 list!
- I passed my first {of two} glucose test last week!  Yippee!!  I will have to take it again in 4 weeks just to be sure, but so far, so good! It is really a good thing I passed because of the next musing...
- Last week I may have overdone the whole cake thing.  I blogged about it Wednesday, ate a cupcake at work Thursday afternoon, was surprised by the hubby with a box of Gigi's after work on Thursday {of which I ate one Thursday night and one Friday night}, ate cake at my neice's birthday party on Saturday and then another cupcake at our shower Saturday night.  Yike-o. Strike-o.  I wish I could say I was lying about the cupcake intake, but as Shakira said these hips don't lie.  I think it's time to take it easy on the cake until the big birthday gets here in a few days!
- Our {televised} baby shower was a blast!!  It was a crazy neat experience and I will certainly blog about it once I get some behind-the-scene shots!

Ok, back to the grind.  I'll leave you with this hilariously cute video of "Kid President" where he meets the creator of his favorite television show.  Love it!  Make it a great day, friends!!

So What! Wednesday

It's been over a year since I participated in a So What! post, so I figured it was a grand ol' time to pick back up...

This week, I am saying SO WHAT if....
  • All I want to do is lay on the sofa and watch my baby move.  It's the best part of pregnancy right now!
  • I want to eat cake all. the. time.  The craving came about 6 days ago, and so far I have made it the whole 6 days without eating any.  Let's see just how long I can hold out.  Survey says not much longer!  Anyone have a cupcake I can eat!?
  • I am Grouchy McGrouchersons at any given moment, then slip right back to 'normal chrissi'.  Lay off me, I am pregnant and hormonal ;)
  • I haven't accomplished a whole lot of anything in my son's nursery.  I have ideas and colors, with fabric and a crib on the way, but that is about it.  I still have 16+ weeks, so I am good, right?!  YIKES.  Who wants to paint...?
  • We're having a baby shower this weekend which will air on Belgium television.  Is that random?  YES.  Is that awesome?  Double YES.  God works in funny ways and we're excited to be a part of this unique God story!  I will post more next week after this fun event!
That's all for now friends.  I hope you choose to make it a great day today!

Friday's Letters {4}

Photobucket

Dear ligaments, I  really wish you'd cut me some slack here.  I realize you're supporting a growing kiddo in there but some relief would be nice! Dear self, get better about taking and posting pregnancy shots.  You'll be oh-so glad you have something fun to look back on.  Dear glucose test, you were horrible to me, and if I didn't pass you I will be one sad, sick lady.  Please, oh please, be kind to me with your results.

Dear french fries, what did I ever do to deserve your glorious yumminess?  PS, why do you have to tempt me so often and be so high in the ol' calories? Dear loved ones, words can't express how grateful BL and I are for your prayers and well-wishes for our little one.  We've had some uncertainty along this road, and we're over halfway there!  Thanks for loving our little guy so much to walk alongside us to pray for him.  You're all legends!  Dear sweet, handsome husband, don't know what I would do without you.  Thanks for putting up with my cranky preggo brain and for making sure I have enough pillows every night to actually get some sleep.  You are my favorite.  Ever.  Dear blog friends, I am thankful for each one of you!  I love the blog world and hope this little place I call 'home' can continue to grow.

Make it a great day, friends!!
XO

Olympic Hangover

For the last 17 days I have cheered loudly for the red, white and blue, sang the Star Spangled Banner countless times, shed a few tears and lost several hours of sleep.   I have loved everything about the games and tried to soak in as much as I could; I DVR'd everything Olympic related and enjoyed lots of TV time with BL.  It's safe to say I was riding high on the Olympic wave, drinking the kool-aid and loving it!  Last night, however, with the Olympics gone and virtually nothing good to watch, I experienced something new: Olympic Hangover.  I realized last night what I knew all along but didn't want to admit: I was drunk on the Olympics.  Gabby Douglas, Missy Franklin, Allison Felix, Michael Phelps...I loved watching you swim, flip, run, celebrate!

As I've been told, all good things must come to an end, and such is the case with my Olympic love affair {until the next ones roll around, of course!}.  So I will nurse my hangover for a few more days and wish I could put Gabby back on the uneven bars, fill up the pool for Missy and Michael and prep the track for Allyson's shoes.  Eventually life will resume normality and I will find other things to do with my time {Parenthood and The Good Wife have to come back eventually...} but for now, I will just catch up on lost sleep, enjoy what's left of the amazingly sappy and wonderful P&G Commercials, and get my life back in order.

**sigh**

21 weeks

How far along: 21 weeks

How big is your baby: just over 1lb, about the size of a spaghetti squash

Total weight gain: 8lbs

Sex: BOY!

Maternity clothes: pants and some tops

Stretch marks: not yet & praying they don’t make an appearance anytime soon!

Movement: Been feeling “quickening” since 16 weeks, but felt my first hard push last night…that was a strange but wonderful feeling.  Little man isn’t too much of a mover & groover and the placement of the placenta prevents me from feeling more.

Sleep: I need more than I am getting and I am no longer sleeping through the night…guess I had to get used to that sooner or later!

Symptoms: Crazy emotions, occasional nausea, mild cramps

Best moment this week: Seeing him suck his thumb on the ultrasound this morning!  I can’t get enough of seeing my little one!

Food cravings: Not nearly as much as the first trimester; still the occasional red meat craving and sometimes fruit.

Food aversions: chicken…I had tried it once mixed into a dish and it was ok, but chicken alone is awful so I try to stay away!

Labor signs: too soon

Belly button in or out: in, for now.

What I miss: sleeping more, peeing less and running.  I really miss running!

What I'm looking forward to: getting the nursery put together, and finally holding my little man!

On another note, I've had a few requests for updated belly pictures, and I promise I will add some more in the coming weeks as I grow, and grow, and grow!   In the meantime, I will share a few of the 'watch me grow' pictures I have been taking over the weeks...enjoy!
