Monday..... FUN day?

Hmm, Monday as a  FUN day?  Doubtful. I'm trying to make it fun with a positive attitude and outlook on the week ahead.  Lucky for me, we're closed on both Friday and Monday of the Labor Day weekend, which means I get a four-day weekend for my 29th {eeek!} birthday!

A few random Monday musings for you today....

- I am excited to turn 29 in a week.  This gives me 365 days to finish my 30 before 30 list!
- I passed my first {of two} glucose test last week!  Yippee!!  I will have to take it again in 4 weeks just to be sure, but so far, so good! It is really a good thing I passed because of the next musing...
- Last week I may have overdone the whole cake thing.  I blogged about it Wednesday, ate a cupcake at work Thursday afternoon, was surprised by the hubby with a box of Gigi's after work on Thursday {of which I ate one Thursday night and one Friday night}, ate cake at my neice's birthday party on Saturday and then another cupcake at our shower Saturday night.  Yike-o. Strike-o.  I wish I could say I was lying about the cupcake intake, but as Shakira said these hips don't lie.  I think it's time to take it easy on the cake until the big birthday gets here in a few days!
- Our {televised} baby shower was a blast!!  It was a crazy neat experience and I will certainly blog about it once I get some behind-the-scene shots!

Ok, back to the grind.  I'll leave you with this hilariously cute video of "Kid President" where he meets the creator of his favorite television show.  Love it!  Make it a great day, friends!!

Hello, Chrissi, it's me, April

Holy smokes!  How is it already April 16?  I have been on the road so much I have barely had time to sleep, clean house, do laundry, etc...there has been no time for my blog... {tear}

Alas, here I sit and just need a break for a minute & would rather unwind by writing here than taking a nap, so here goes nothing....a few Miscellany Monday Musings....

{1} I am currently on trip 11 out of 13 (in 8 weeks), which means I can see the light at the end of the tunnel!

{2} That light is even brighter knowing my last trip involves my mom & sisters in New York City!!  Woop! Woop!

{3}  I haven't seen last night's Mad Men because I couldn't keep my eyes open!  Can't wait to catch up on the DVR tomorrow when I get home!

{4} I thought I might have to use a barf bag today on my flight...for serious...I got a whiff of tomato juice at the same time we hit turbulence & just about lost my breakfast.  Lovely, I know ;)

{5} I reeeeally want to go see Titanic IMAX.

{6} Also want to watch Hunger Games again.  In the dollar theater, of course.

...and, that's about all...seriously...fried brain, anyone?!

Make it a great day friends!  Do something out of the ordinary and make someone smile, you never know who needs it!

Guess What...?

Some random/surprising/brain-dumping thoughts on a Monday evening....

My husband was camping this weekend in these crazy storms with my dad, brothers and brother-in law.  I am still thanking God that the boys all made it back safe & sound!

I am also just thrilled that my husband loves my family so much that he actually wants to go on guys trips with them.  I believe that says a lot about how cool my family is the bond of family!

I am about to travel more for work than I have in a long time....  I am going to miss my bed, my pup, my coffee maker, and most of all my sweet BL.  So many trips in such a short period of time?!  Buckle your seat belts, friends, it's going to be a wild ride!  ...ps, I am happy they are all short trips, but still too much time away...

Also a random thought, I am so thrilled that all of these Delta flights will help get us on vacation this year!  Thank you, SKYMILES!!  I guess there is a perk to this travel, after all!

Last but not least....

I chopped my hair off....I actually surprised myself by my bravery at taking so many inches off & I am so happy I did it!

I hope you have a wonderful week ahead!  Choose happiness friends, and make it a great week!

Miscellany Monday

Happy Monday friends!  I hope you had a super weekend and savored every minute you could!  It's raining cats & dogs around here {what does that phrase even mean?!} so I'm at my desk wishing I was in sweats, under a blanket, by a fire, watching movies.

Is that asking too much!?

Anywho, thought I would gather some random musings and link up to the Miscellany Monday party at lowercase letters...

Miscellany Monday @

...this weekend we had a lot of time with friends.  BL & I are beyond grateful for the friends we've been blessed with, and I love spending time with people who make me laugh!

...as per the above, we've been with a lot of people lately and haven't had a whole lot of 'us' time.  This makes me want to plan something fun for just us to do...any ideas?  Maybe a weekend away?  I could dream these plans up all. day. long.

...I'm currently in a debate with myself as to whether or not I should chop my hair.  I really like this cut but it would require saying goodbye to several inches, and I am just not sure I am ready.

...my nails...right now, I don't love the color I have on annnnd my nail polish is chipping.  Needless to say, it's driving me CRAZY!  I can't wait to get it off tonight & get some pretty color on in it's place :)

...speaking of pretty polish, have you seen the new Holland collection coming from OPI?  I am in love with these pretty colors!!

So that's about all for now...I hope you're having a wonderful Monday :)

Monday musings....and why I can't seem to focus

I can hear the words sweet whisperings of The Bangles singing "Manic Monday" in my head already...and it's not even 9:00am.

I am not a fan of Mondays.  I do not like saying goodbye to the weekend and putting my "work hat" back on to face the reality that I will be staring into this computer screen for about 45 hours over the next 5 days.  I get lost in a sea of deadlines and meetings, conference calls and emails… and then I remember all of the people who would do anything for a job.  Not a job they love and have dreamt of since childhood.  Nope.  Just a job.

{insert big ol’ humble pill I will now be choking on swallowing}

Pretty sure it’s time for an attitude adjustment.  Not only do I have a job, I like my job.  I enjoy being around my colleagues and feel blessed to be where I am, which then begs the question, why the unrest on a Monday morning?

I think it’s pretty simple…I am not choosing happiness.

I know I have shared this here before, but now is a perfect opportunity to share it again… When we were kids Dad would stand at the bus stop with us every morning and say a simple phrase.  We would moan and groan and mock him, but it stuck to each of us like glue:

Happiness is a choice.  Choose happiness.

There is so much in this life that we can’t control: Monday mornings, traffic, weather, other people’s attitudes… It is so easy to get lost in a sea of circumstances, most of which we can do nothing about.  I know, personally, it’s tough to face the day when all you want to do is stay in bed and cry or sleep or veg out on the sofa drinking red wine eating bonbons thinking about how tough you have it.  Life is tough sometimes, but in the end, we can choose to be happy or miserable. No one can make that choice for us.

So today, I may be tired and already dreaming of the upcoming weekend, but I am happy right where I am, in hopes that my joy will be contagious with the good people around me.  I hope you’ll join me in choosing happiness today, and always.

“…the joy of the lord is my strength” – Nehemiah 8:10

Make it a great day, friends!
