Single Babies!

I have such a wonderful Father-in-law!  He watches Max while I work 4 or 5 days a week and really takes such great care of him!  Max loves his Papa and so do BL & I!  This week he created a baby version of "single ladies" .... Single Babies!  Thanks Daddy Lyons, you're awesome!

there's a first time for everything!

Justin Bieber said it best.... Never say Never. 

Did I really just quote the Biebs on my blog?!  Did I really just give him a nickname?!

This weekend BL and I went skiing for the very first time in North Carolina and had a blast!  I am sore beyond belief and wish I could put my jacket on without wincing, but it was a great time!  

To summarize my adventure I would use one word: fall.  If there was an opportunity to fall, I took it.  

Getting off of the lift: FALL

Going too fast: FALL

Getting too close to other skiers: FALL

Arriving at the bottom of the slope: FALL

I would venture to say I landed on my rump a minimum of 75 times on Sunday...and that is a kind estimate :)  Regardless, I enjoyed the adventure with my sweets and his colleagues and hope to do more fun day trips when we can.

The Newlywed Game!! 

I'm not going to give you all of the episode (watch for it on the Game Show Network because re-runs will run until December!), but hope you enjoyed some highlights :)  and please pay special attention to my sweet hubby talking about this very blog....or blog, blog, blog, blog....as he lovingly says!

We had so much fun, even if all of my self-confidence was totally kind of shot based on A) having the most obnoxious laugh, B) playing with my bangs like they're about to run away and I have to catch them and C) looking 10lbs heavier than I think I do in real life (every girls worst nightmare!).....did you pick up on any of the above listed issues while watching?

My Very First Tsunami Warning

The day was Friday, March 11.  The time was 5:11...in the morning.  I was awoken abruptly when my phone rang, flashing 'mom' on the screen. She knew I was on Pacific time, so calling this early must mean something is wrong. 

Mom: "Chrissi, where are you?  Are you ok?  What is going on?"

Me: "I'm laying in my bed.  I'm fine.  I was sleeping....what are you talking about?!"

Then I begin thinking 'oh my GOSH!  Was there an earthquake here?!  Did I really sleep through another earthquake?!"

Mom: "Your sister called and said they're evacuating California" in her defense, she was also awoken abruptly, so thinking the whole state was being evacuated was logical ;)

Me: "Hold on mom, let me turn the news on"....fumbled for the remote...."Mom, if they were evacuating someone would have knocked on my door, sounded an alarm, or something...."

I then turned the news on to see the devastation in Japan and was completely shocked.  Then I did start to panic a little....would there be an earthquake here?  Would there be some crazy tsunami come in?  I'm not from California, I have no clue how these things work! Needless to say, nothing major happened where I was in Cali, and I had one happy momma!

So what was the most logical thing to do the next morning?  Go for a run out to the Pacific Ocean, of course!  My boss told me about this great path that went through the hills and stopped right at the Pacific Ocean.  It was a GREAT way to start my Saturday, even if it was way too early & I had to get to the office right afterward.  Oh well, it was wonderful while it lasted!

So although I made light out of the fact that there was a tsunami warning, the devastation in Japan is no joke.  I can't even begin to imagine what the Japaneese people are going through. Boats, trains, people. Missing.  I pray I never have to go through something like that, but more importantly, I'm praying for the people of Japan.  Praying for safety, praying for comfort, praying for peace.  

PS, I totally have the best momma in the world, who cares so much for her children...even when they're all grown up!  Momma Mel, I sure do love you :)

"i do"....with a sticker on my shoe

That's right folks, my sweet husband went and purchased new shoes two days before our wedding.  The shoes looked great.....from the top.  When we were packing to leave the hotel Sunday morning, I noticed that the price tag was still on the bottom of his shoe.  Normally this wouldn't matter, except for the fact that we took communion during the ceremony, and the bottom of his shoes were open for all to see!!!  We got a little giggle out of this for sure!

Anywho, we had a beautiful ceremony.  It was performed by the minister at the church I grew up going to, and the church BL and I are about to switch back to.  We did not get married in any church that was significant to us other than it's location directly across the street to the reception location.  Regardless, it was a stunning venue.  I loved it!!

My father gave me away and his only rule for all three of his girls is that we wear a veil and he will raise it to give us away.  This was a very meaningful moment!  

We opted for the traditional service with a unity candle and Lord's Supper.  The candle was great (I DIY-ed the main pillar candle with material from my flower girl's dress.  

(thought I had dripped wax on my dress....I was checking to be sure)

In other news, it's raining a lot in ATL today.  This always puts me in such a blah mood!! I need some good pick-me-up music to make this better.  For serious...now time to peruse my iTunes.  Make it a great day!

PS--Just created "The Weather Girls" Pandora Station.... Pointer Sisters up first....this day is getting better already!!  I'm channeling my inner Jessie Spano "I'm so excited....."

New Website, No Venue, Never Been There

I updated our Knot website last night...it's still not final but it's getting there :) You can view it here.  Like I said, it's a work in progress, but so much fun to have it going!  I will update as we have more information.  Which leads me to my next point...


We have no ceremony venue!  I have fallen in love with a reception site that does not have enough space for our guests for the wedding.  They offered us a 'gathering' for the ceremony, but I personally don't want any of my guests standing for the ceremony.  Thoughts?  Now I am in search mode for any and all churches nearby.  Not an easy task, and I am not a fan of churches who do not allow non-members to get married there.  I am a member of A church, just not YOUR church.  Ugh.  More phone calls today & fingers crossed we will find somewhere.  The good news is that I have an excellent plan B venue in downtown Atlanta that has both ceremony and reception space, so we'll use it if we need to.  I just reeeeally have my heart set on plan A.  Any suggestions?


In other news, Delta.com just told me I leave for South Africa in 19 days....what?!? Good news is I was finally able to switch to an aisle seat.  I used to prefer a window, but having to ask two people to move just so I can walk or pee is frustrating.  Especially on a 16 hour flight!  And other good news is that I depart back to the states in just 66 days.  Wow, I don't think I am ready mentally to be away for 47 days.  I won't get into this now because I will get emotional.  After all, I am a wimp have never been gone for this long.  I will be blogging as much as I can so family and friends (blogger friends too!) can keep up.  Truthfully I am really excited about seeing not only a new country but a new continent!  I am very blessed to have the job I have and not a day goes by when I don't realize that...this trip to the World Cup, albeit long and hard, is amazing and I am thrilled to go (and equally as thrilled to return)!
